Pizza Making Classes in Florence, Compared
Florence's pizza and gelato classes side by side: central evening classes with unlimited wine, a family option, a farm day and a gluten-free Neapolitan class. Prices checked October 2026.
The best pizza making class in Florence for most visitors is the evening pizza and gelato class with unlimited wine near the Duomo. It runs two and a half hours, you build your own pizza from the dough up, and gelato is part of the lesson. It is rated 4.7 from 266 reviews and costs from $77 per person on GetYourGuide this month, half its usual $78 (checked October 2026).

Is pizza even from Florence?
No. Pizza belongs to Naples, about three hours south by fast train, and a Florence pizza class teaches the Neapolitan way: a soft, well-risen dough stretched by hand and baked fast and hot. That is not a reason to skip it. The dough is easy to learn in an evening, and it is the one Italian skill most people actually use again at home. Children love it, which is the main reason families choose a pizza class over a pasta one.

A new mozzarella and pizza class with a wood-fired oven also appeared this autumn, from $80 in current promotion (usually $100). It has only 3 reviews so far, which is too few to recommend it yet.
How long, and what to expect
City pizza classes run two to three hours, usually in the late afternoon or evening. Expect to mix and knead your own dough, stretch it by hand, make a simple tomato sauce, choose toppings and eat the result. In the gelato classes the chef demonstrates the gelato or you help make it, depending on the class. Wine is included for adults in the main classes, with soft drinks for children.
Dress for flour. Aprons and equipment are provided, and nobody minds if your first pizza is not round.
Pizza or pasta?
Pick pizza if you have children with you, or if you want a skill you will actually repeat at home. Pick pasta if you want the more Tuscan evening: the most-reviewed class in Florence is a 2 to 2.5-hour pasta class in a 1200s tower near the Duomo, from $20 in current promotion (usually $37) this month. Every city class is compared in the best cooking class in Florence guide, and gluten-free options are covered in the dietary guide.
